PRAYER REQUESTS

Please continue to pray for our daughter, Kelly Cottingham.  She has a mass in her chest and will be having surgery July 24 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas.  Because of the tumor's location they are going to have to split the sternum.  Pray that the surgery will go smoothly, that the tumor will not be malignant and that she will recover quickly.

Pray for Adam Scott and his family.  He has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and diabetes.  He is 34 years old, just lost his job (which he expected to retire from) and has a wife and three children.

Pray for Jerry and Diane Scott.  Jerry is facing possible heart surgery and definitely one or two back surgeries.  Pray for him, Diane and his doctors as they begin this process.

Pray for the family of Annie Dunn.  She was 88 and went home to be with the Lord.

Pray too for the family of David Cooper in Cleburne.  David was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago and has been called home to be with the Lord.

Please continue to pray for J.Y. Durham. He has just been released from the hospital.

Pray for Gary and Peggy McKenzie.  Gary is having severe problems with his diabetes and neuropathy. Continue to pray for his health.

Pray for Geraldine and Larry Webb.  Larry has been released from a nursing home and his mother is trying to care for him at home.

Pray for good friend, Joe Bell and his wife, Donna.  Joe has been diagnosed with COPD and is having lots of trouble with all the windy weather and wind we have had here in Odessa.  We pray for healing and comfort for him.

Pray for Jim McMahan and his wife Maxie.  He has been diagnosed with cancer.

Pray for Donnie & Barbara Belcher.  Donnie has a checkup scheduled in the next week or so.

Continue to pray for our good friend Jack Watkins and his wife Jane.  Jack had a severe stroke over a year ago and is now being taught to communicate with a computer since he cannot speak.

Pray for our President and our nation's leaders.  Tough decisions are being made every day.  Pray too for our service men and women who continue to make it possible for us to live in freedom.

Continue to pray for good friends Vearl and Sandy McDaniel. Vearl has been diagnosed with a form of leukemia. We love and appreciate both of them so much.

Continue to pray for the REC-Room. We have seen many coming out of prison continue to do well and help others do the same.

Lift up in prayer all of your family and friends that do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. This old world isn't getting any better and I fear for all of our children and grandchildren.  We pray especially for our granddaughter, Hannah, that she will soon accept Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour.

CORRECTION

A correction needs to be made in a scripture reference in the June article of "Keep Looking Up!"  In referring to the priesthood qualifications of "no physical blemishes" the scripture reference should be Leviticus 21:17-21, not 17:21-17.

FROM THE HEART

It is that time of year again…Christmas!  Well, not exactly Christmas, but time for me to remind all of you behind prison bars that it is time for you to sign up for the Prison Fellowship Angel Tree Program.

As this is being written, Prison Fellowship Angel Tree forms are being circulated to prisons nation-wide. The deadline that Prison Fellowship has set to have forms completed is the middle of September.  If you have not filled out a form yet, you need to do it immediately if you have children at home between the ages of birth and 16.

This is a program that will provide Christmas gifts for your children and they will be from you.  You must get these forms from your prison chaplain.  If you don't know him, now is a good time to get acquainted.  These forms are only available for a short time and must be turned in promptly so they can be processed by Prison Fellowship and sent on to the areas in which your children live.  And…please don't fill out forms for nieces and nephews or grandchildren.  These are for your children only.

Please do not send us your requests for Angel Tree applications.  We do not have them.

Happy 4th of July!  Remember we are privileged to live in the "Home of the free because of the brave!"

…til next time,

Linda Maples
